Brainstorm a list of at least 10 words that come to mind when you think of the word “culture.” Visit the Wordle website (http://wordle.net) and create a wordle from the list of words that you generated. Choose an appealing design for your Wordle and embed it on your group’s wiki page.

Wikis are a great tool to use in the classroom, but many teachers need help knowing how to use them. Discuss with your group members why you might want to use a wiki in the classroom and share some of the example wikis that you found prior to class. Select one exemplary wiki from your discussion and paste the link on the wiki page. What components of this site might you use in your own wiki? What things would you probably not use? Be sure to highlight some of the benefits of using a wiki in the classroom.

GROUP 3

What is a widget and why should you use them? Discuss with your group members why you might want to use HTML widgets on a webpage and share some of the examples you found prior to class. Visit the Widgets section on Wikispaces and explore the possibilities of widget use within Wikispaces. From your discussion, select 3 of your favorite widgets and embed them on our class wiki. Be sure to share how/why you might use these widgets on your wiki page.

One of the best ways to get the most out of your wiki site is to provide students a chance to be interactive. However, educators often struggle with thinking of how to incorporate these experiences for their students. Discuss with your group members how you could make your wiki site interactive with your students. How might you provide opportunities for your students to participate, collaborate and interact?
